Sutton Solid Oak Flooring

Sutton Solid Oak flooring remains the most popular choice for hardwood flooring, valued for its timeless appearance, durability, and natural warmth.

Real Oak flooring features a distinctive grain pattern and rich honey-coloured tones that gradually deepen with age, adding even more character over time. Strong, durable, and traditionally crafted, Oak is suitable for almost any interior style, from classic country homes to contemporary spaces.

Available supplied either finished or unfinished, Sutton Solid Oak flooring offers complete flexibility in achieving the desired look for your project.

Sutton Engineered Oak Flooring

Sutton Engineered Oak flooring is our most popular flooring option for both residential and commercial properties. Combining the beauty of solid Oak with enhanced stability, engineered boards are ideal for modern homes, underfloor heating systems, and large open-plan spaces.

Sutton engineered Oak flooring is available in a variety of grades including Prime, Character, Rustic, and Pippy, allowing you to select the perfect balance of clean grain and natural character.

Boards can be supplied natural, pre-oiled, lacquered, brushed, hand-scraped, or with visible saw marks depending on the desired finish. Colour options range from warm natural Oak tones through to contemporary greys, smoked finishes, and darker stained floors.

What is the Difference Between Solid and Engineered Wood Flooring?

Solid wood flooring is produced from single boards cut directly from solid hardwood logs. It provides a traditional floor with natural durability and longevity.

Engineered wood flooring is constructed from multiple layers of bonded plywood with a top veneer of solid Oak. This construction creates a more stable floor, helping to reduce movement caused by changes in temperature and moisture.

Both options provide the appearance of real Oak flooring, with the choice often depending on installation requirements and room conditions.

Oak Flooring Grades

Prime

Prime Oak flooring is produced from the highest quality English and European Oak available.

Boards are carefully selected for their straight grain, consistency, and minimal natural defects, creating a refined and elegant floor with a clean appearance.

Ideal for contemporary interiors and minimalist spaces, Prime grade offers the most uniform finish within the Oak flooring range.

Character

Character Oak is the most popular Oak flooring grade we supply.

Featuring occasional live knots, subtle grain movement, and small natural splits or cracks, Character grade balances clean appearance with natural interest and warmth.

The overall effect is a premium Oak floor with additional personality and texture while still maintaining a relatively consistent appearance.

Character Oak

Rustic

Rustic Oak flooring embraces the full natural beauty of the timber.

Larger knots, colour variation, burrs, hairline cracks, and occasional end splits all contribute to a highly characterful and traditional floor. Knots and cracks are typically filled and sanded smooth, retaining the rugged appearance while creating a practical and durable surface.

Rustic Oak is particularly popular in heritage properties, country homes, and interiors seeking a more natural aesthetic.

Pippy

Pippy Oak flooring is produced exclusively from native English Oak and is one of the most distinctive flooring options available.

The timber contains clusters of small knots, known as “pips,” alongside dramatic grain movement and natural figuring rarely found in European Oak.

The result is a truly unique floor filled with texture, movement, and traditional English character.

Long & Wide Oak Flooring

Our bespoke Oak flooring is available in long and wide board formats, creating a luxurious and spacious appearance.

Unlike many imported Oak floors, our Character English Oak flooring can be supplied in substantial board sizes, traditionally favoured in British interiors.

No two Oak floors are ever identical, making each floor entirely unique to your project.

Supplied Finished or Unfinished

Natural Oak is known for its warm golden tones, but engineered Oak flooring offers endless finishing possibilities.

Boards can be supplied unfinished, allowing stains and finishes to be applied in situ to perfectly match your interior design scheme. From natural oils and subtle smoked finishes through to deep greys and almost black tones, Oak flooring can be tailored to suit both traditional and contemporary interiors.

Pre-finished options are also available for faster installation and immediate use.
