Jonty Hampson has been all around the world on his journey to finding out woodworking was his real passion. Spending time in Brooklyn and Austin, he later started selling his products at Greenwich market made from trees which had been cleared from the local streets which included the first London plane he worked with. Nowadays, he makes small batches of beautiful home goods for retailers and restaurants.
He’s always understood the importance of the connection between the food industry and knowing where things come from, doesn’t matter if that’s the ingredients or the timber, which has really helped him carve out his own space in the market. His natural, flowing designs were original and different for the time and many makers have taken inspiration from his work. Each of his pieces is individual and really aims to show off the beauty of the timber he uses.
Jonty has been working with us since 2015 so we have built a great knowledge base of what he is looking for. Lots of interesting colour variation, unique grain patterns and definitely lace wood across many species such as elm, walnut, oak, ash and plane.
All you really need to know is, he makes simple and elegant pieces that will last a lifetime.
