James Burnford of Northwood Forestry Ltd is having an auction.

He has wrapped up, packed up and is ready to ship out of his sawmill site at Pulborough in West Sussex…

Northwood Forestry sawmill at Goose Green, Pulborough is now closed and sawmill machinery & stock is now available to buy in a LIVE ONLINE auction.

Our sawmilling neighbour, James Burnford, took the tough decision to started winding up his timber business last November.

To hear a thriving, well respected timber supplier was closing gave us a bit of a jolt. We felt for James having to make that decisions and for his customers too. Losing your trusted supplier is a disaster, even more so in a woodworking niche like green oak framing or hardwood joinery.

So we worked with James to provide some continuity for his customers who, let’s face it, were already struggling to keep businesses going through a global pandemic. We were glad to help James and give Northwood Forestry customers a transition supply.

We were also lucky enough to be able to welcome JJ and Richard, part of James’ core team, into our business along with over 300m3 of Northwood stock.

And now it’s job done.

The Northwood sawmill machinery & stock auction is now LIVE ONLINE.

Yup, the machinery’s been prepped and the leftover Oak, Elm, Douglas & Larch stock’s been bunched up in neat, pallet friendly parcels and everything’s ready to go.

Want to know what’s in the auction?

Well, try names like Weinig, Hundegger, Diemer, Linde, Schubert, Volvo, Valmar, Linde & Wadkin for size…

And kit? There’s plenty of kit.

Think planer thicknessers, cross cutters, multi-rip saws, chain morticers, trucks & forklifts, compressors & power tools, re-saws & bandsaws, dollies & trolleys, straightline edgers & 6 head moulders, tarps & timber racks, lots & lots of racking not to mention pellet making kit, dust extraction systems, office kit and an awful lot of flooring nailers…

which is clearly not a coincidence ‘cos there’s an awful lot of Oak flooring…

and burrs, and square edge, and waney edge and beam.

In total there are 365 lots.
That’s a lot of lots.

And it’s all about wood.
With maybe a little bit of office-y stuff.

If you’re curious go and take a peek.

You’ll have plenty of opportunity to view the kit in it’s natural habitat before you buy. James has fixed up the following dates for viewings at the sawmill site, near Pulborough before the auctions ends on the 13th of May.

Dates to put in your diary
Tuesday 4th May – viewing day
Wednesday 5th May – viewing day
Wednesday 12th May – viewing day
Thursday 13th May – online auction ends

We hope you’ll take a look.

You might find something useful, a new piece of machinery that changes the type of work you can do, some kit that means you can experiment with a new project, some timber that allows you to give a winning quote or to make something for yourself that adds value to your home.

We’re glad for James that he can finally close the doors at Northwood and start his next adventure, sawmill free.

Happy lot browsing woodfans, and until next time, keep healthy.
