WYSIWYG Hardwood Hit-The-Road-Jack Rack Sale

We did it in September and it was so much fun we’re going to do it again. Yes woodfans & woodfolks, we’re having another 50% Off Sale in the Timber Rack!

the hardwood timber rack rammed to the gunwhales ready for the 50% off sale in January in english wodlands timber woodyard

On Saturday the 25th January our woodshed doors will be open from 10am to 2pm to let you at the cream of the english hardwood crop.

Then for the rest of the week… from the Monday 27th to Friday 31st of January… you can come and go as you please during normal woodyard hours ( 8am-4pm) and everything in The Rack will stay 50% Off, just for you.

We’ve spent that last couple of weeks loading up the 3 big timber racks and the back wall behind them with british hardwoods such as our deliciously figured Elm, silken grained Ash, rich golden Chestnut, piles of grand old Quercus Robur* not to mention as many bits of Yew, Cedar of Lebanon, Walnut and Beech we could fit in the spaces in between. There are long boards, short boards. Natural-edge boards and square edge cut to size bits. Biscuit thin slivers and unwieldy lumps and they’re ALL 50% off the marked up prices.

It’s quite possible you won’t know where to start when you get here but you’ll probably get over that once you’ve got some competition lining up beside you. If you do get overwhelmed / overwraught / thoroughly flummoxed worry not, we promise we’ll sit you down and feed you coffee and biscuits until the caffeine and sugar get you properly un-flummoxed and back on track.

Yours for the taking for A WHOLE WEEK

If you’re after super-duper english hardwoods in waney-edge or natural edge or live-edge boards there’ll be plenty.  If you’re hoping for small pieces for diy projects there’ll be stacks to choose from. If you want to stock up on s/e sections for a joinery workshop you’re welcome to fill that roof rack or van back. Everything in the Timber Rack will be 50% Off for a whole week starting Saturday 25th Jan and you can come back as many times as you like to make the most of it.

So what next?

Probably time to start making plans to come on over to the woodyard and select your half price timber, right? Well read our MORE INFO below and we’ll fill you in on more of the details about opening times (it starts on a Saturday folks!) how to find us, what to expect when you get here.

If you’ve got time, check out the EVEN MORE at the bottom the page for places nearby to get something to eat & drink or just visit whilst you’re here.

So, about this hardwood Rack Sale…

What is it?

It’s 50% off everything in the timber rack in our woodsheds for one week only and it’s a first come first served, finders keepers type thing.

When is it?

It starts Saturday 25th January 2020 & ends Friday the 31st at 4pm.

What time is the Sale?

The woodyard opening times are 10am – 2pm on Saturday 25th and normal 8am – 4pm from Monday 27th to Friday 31st.

How do we get to there?

What is The Timber Rack?

The Rack is a dedicated space in the woodshed near The Pod. It’s a cornucopia filled english and eurpoean hardwoods and everything and anything else that passes through the woodyard. It’s a place where you are free to ponder on and pick your own timber. It ranges from smaller pieces of square edge timber to big natural edge boards , all visible and shop-able and take-away-able. Each piece of wood has the species, dimension and full price +VAT written on it. The wood is stacked vertically and is easy to sort through.

How to use The Rack?

The Rack is a permanent fixture in the woodshed.  Unlike the rest of the hardwood sheds it’s 100% self-service where you’re free to browse and rummage to your hearts content. We’re always on hand to answer questions and help but it’s essentially a ‘help yourself’ wood shop.
On the Saturday Sale day we’ll put bearers out on the shed floor for you to build a collection of pieces.
When you’re ready Ben or David will tally up and apply the 50% discount on a timber measure sheet so you can see what you’ve got.  Then you take your measure sheet to the POD where Nick or Gavin will take your payment.

How to pay for wood

You can pay with cash or by card (no AmEx) in the POD next to The Rack before you get loaded up. Existing account holders can choose to put wood on their account.

Can I get wood machined?

Sadly we can’t offer machining on Rack Sale purchases however we can do a rough cross-cutting service with a chainsaw if you need to fit larger items inside a vehicle.

How to take your wood away

Small / light boards can be carried away by hand. If you accumulate a big pile and can’t carry it yourself then we’ll do our best to help you load it in your car from the despatch area** with the fork lift. Failing that we can give you a quote & arrange delivery for a later date. All SALE wood must be purchased on the day though. No cute little piles of wood put aside or hidden around the shed for payment and pick up another day folks (!!) we want to keep it fair and square for everyone that visits for the sale.

Can I buy wood that isn’t in The Rack?

On Saturday it’ll be The Rack, The whole Rack and nothing but The Rack (so help us Wood Gods) and the rest of the english and european hardwoods in the sheds will be off limits for that day but it’s back to business as usual on Monday and then of course you’re welcome to come on select your own timber.

The big NB…

Ok.. so the SALE starts 10am Saturday 25th January until 2pm, then runs for normal woodyard hours for the rest of the week.
Only items in the timber rack are 50% Off
There’s no limit how much wood any one person can buy
All wood must be paid for on the day
No vehicles can drive inside the sheds
We have no machining services on the Saturday apart from cross cutting lengths

We hope that’s everything you needed to know about the hardwood timber Sale. We can’t wait to see you folks on Saturday 🙂
