It’s that time of year again Grown in Britain Week 2025 is here! From Monday 6th – Sunday 12th October 2025, we’re joining the GiB community to celebrate all things homegrown and sustainable.
This year’s theme is all about prosperity through resilience and innovation, with daily focuses on prosperity in practice, building resilience, future-proofing woodlands, and collaboration for growth. And of course, the highlight of the week, the National Forestry Conference on Wednesday, will bring together voices from across the forestry, timber, and construction industries.
Why Grown in Britain Matters
Back in 2011, people across the country stood together to protect our forests. That collective effort sparked a movement that has since grown into Grown in Britain, an independent, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to reshaping our relationship with woodlands and wood products.
Through certification, collaboration, and advocacy, GiB has created a trusted mark of assurance for UK-grown timber. It’s not just about traceability, it’s about building a culture that values our woodlands, supports biodiversity, and champions a truly sustainable timber industry.
Certification means that when you buy GiB timber, you know it has been legally and sustainably sourced. It’s about supporting healthy forests, encouraging responsible woodland management, and ensuring that future generations will still benefit from the beauty and value of Britain’s woods.
Our Grown in Britain Timber Stock
We believe it starts with the trees so we’re proud to support the GiB movement by stocking a wide range of homegrown, certified timbers. Each board, pack, or cladding piece tells a story of woodland management, sustainability, and craftsmanship:

Every stick of timber is part of a bigger picture – one where woodland health, biodiversity, and craftsmanship go hand in hand.
Timber Sourcing & Certification
We’ve always believed that where timber comes from matters. Choosing certified, homegrown timber is about more than provenance, it’s about making a stand for sustainable forestry, climate responsibility, and the future of the industry.
Our GiB certification means:
- 100% legal and sustainable sourcing
- Timber from well-managed British woodlands
- A contribution to thriving, resilient ecosystems
- Assurance for builders, joiners, furniture makers, and designers who care about sustainability
From the first felling cut to the final crafted product, GiB certification gives our customers confidence that they’re working with timber that supports the environment rather than depletes it.
How to Manage Your Woodland – Free Woodland Guide
As we celebrate Grown in Britain Week 2025, it’s important to remember that everything begins with the trees themselves. That’s why we recommend our sister company, English Woodlands Forestry’s free guide: How to Manage Your Woodland.

Woodland management means actively caring for and working in wooded environments, from coppices and forests to arboretums and public parks. Good management increases biodiversity, reduces flood risk, improves water quality, captures carbon, enhances landscapes, and yes – produces beautiful timber.

It’s a practical resource not only for woodland owners, but also for woodworkers, designers, and anyone curious about how sustainable forestry works. By understanding how woodlands are managed, you’ll see why certification schemes like Grown in Britain matter so much.
Looking Back, Looking Forward
When GiB began, it was about giving the British forestry and timber industries a voice and a platform. For us, that meant more than just words, it meant reclassifying our stock to highlight British-grown timbers, actively promoting GiB certification to our customers, and helping create demand for local, sustainable timber.
Fast forward to 2025, and that momentum has grown into a movement. GiB certification is now a trusted standard, British timber is making waves in projects big and small, and the industry is working harder than ever to ensure that our woodlands are not just surviving but thriving.
