JLA Joinery bespoke kitchen

JLA started life as a specialist joinery company in 1980, founded in Chichester, West Sussex. Thanks to their foundation of keeping things personal, and the high quality bespoke furnishings they produced, their reputation quickly spread, and their team increased along with the demand for their products. Now employing a group of fully qualified expert craftsmen, JLA provides the finest quality services to homeowners and businesses from their local workshop.

Specialising in bespoke staircases, JLA’s skilled joiners know how to get the very best out of the timber and other materials to perfectly suit any space. For spacious, accommodating properties with plenty of space, they offer beautifully crafted glass staircases. Developing and designing bespoke interior furniture is something they love to do – whether the client is looking for a wardrobe or a new set of table and chairs, the team are keen to design a piece that’s perfect for the home.

Working from the well-equipped workshop in Chichester, the team of joiners and carpenters are skilled in the art of creating hard and softwood doors from scratch, and are perfectly positioned to create stunning exterior furniture to match. From tables and chairs to benches, the team works hard to make everything fit beautifully together.

Project Spotlight

When a customer who had recently finished their extensive new build (with an office, garage and cinema) came to JLA concerned about the overall look of the interior joinery, the team got stuck into an interesting project where none of the timber was to be straight.

The customer wanted to do something unusual with their staircase, balustrading and handrails, and after discussing their ideas and hunting for online inspiration, the team at JLA came to a decision on curved spindles that would run from one staircase, through the floor, past the landing and then all the way upstairs to another staircase.

The finished spindles and handrail lent the stairwell a completely unique look, and satisfied the customer’s needs perfectly. To finish off the job, the craftsmen at JLA created bespoke office furniture for the newly built study.

“We were delighted with all of the work that JLA have done for us, the quality of the craftsmanship is absolutely first class, they have a real attention to detail and desire to go the extra mile in order to achieve the best result. I would not hesitate in recommending them for any job, large or small.”

Timber Spotlight

JLA sources the best materials available, from glass and metal to their timber, so they can ensure the highest quality products that’ll stand the test of time. That’s where we come in. When it comes to creating bespoke furniture that’s completely unique for every customer, the team has to consider a lot. The timber has to look the part, but also has to have the perfect finish that’s capable of standing the test of time.

Hardwoods are the most common timber we supply to the team, offering a clear finish with beautiful exposed grain that packs real impact. Our oak, walnut, utile, ash and beech all get a chance to impress, as the team works hard to find the right wood for their bespoke furniture. If the furniture will be painted, however, our softwood (like pine) is a more cost effective choice.
