Air Dried Oak Cladding

Designed by James Gorst Architects for a private client, this concrete and steel structure is clad with air dried English Oak ina simple 22 x 100mm square edge section, planed and laid vertically, board on board.

The cladding is untreated and left to weather naturally. Single fix to battens with austenitic stainless steel screws.

During the specification process the use of fresh sawn Oak was considered due to lower cost but the risk of distortion was considered too great and air dried material was selected instead.
