Fresh Sawn Oak Cladding

A heavy Oak frame construction designed and Built by Tim Boxley of Downland Workshops for a private client during 2008/9 using Fresh Sawn Oak feather edge for exterior cladding.

The French Oak was cut into 25/5mm x 200mm feather section with boards approximately 3.0m long. Minor sap allowed.

Affixed with austenitic annular stainless steel nails. A single face fix to softwood battens providing tight weather resistant fit.

A beautiful honey colour when first sawn, Oak will weather down to a silver grey in time (12-24 months). Tannins will wash out during that weathering period and it is essential to use stainless fixings to avoid permanent iron stains and metal corrosion.
