Christmas is coming to Ilford, Hainault, Wanstead & Seven Kings
This weekend the English Woodlands Timber Forestry team – David Funnell with Geoff Townsend and his HIAB crane – are having a change of job description, being Christmas tree suppliers extraordinaire. They were hard at work spending their Sunday erecting the first Chistmas Trees of 2011 for Ilford, Wanstead, Hainault & Seven Kings town centres.
Have you ever been to choose a real Christmas tree and bring it home in your car?.. or worse.. by public transport ?! …
Then you’ll appreciate how much care and effort the foresters put in to fell and transport these four precious (and heavy at 2-3 tonnes each !) Norway Spruce trees without damaging the branches and foliage that make them so attractive.
The four beautiful Norway Spruce have been growing on an Estate not far from us in West Sussex for the past 20 – 25 years. They were chosen and felled especially for the occasion. They are all 30 to 35ft high and have fantastic colour and body and will, no doubt, soon be adorned with lights and decorations to help inspire the spirit of Christmas in the local communities of East London.
We’re not accustomed to being a Christmas tree supplier, but all in all, didn’t David & Geoff do a great job?
